Today was a good day. Meet the threadripper.

Virtual reality’s immersive nature is sometimes most profoundly demonstrated with 360 films of familiar places. The sudden realisation that you've sat in that spot and listened to those waves gives a beautiful childlike sense of wonder. Taking that into the clinical world and being able to give a patient an escape to somewhere that is already special seems more likely to offer benefits against an unfamiliar setting, however lovely.

As the quality and tech improves so the editing and rendering of VR content gets ever more onerous. This is why we chose a threadripper as our workhorse in the lab. As the American muscle car enthusiasts are wont to say “there ain't no substitute for cubes” in CPU world cubes is cores and our threadripper offers an unrivalled core to price ratio. The box is also pretty amazing!

The threadripper

Like any of the #pcmasterrace builds are fun, but no breaths were taken until hitting BIOS.

No, no RGB. Yes it’s a thoroughbred. The case is perfect. We’ve also been using an Insta360 camera to film for VR. It’s been on dawn trips to the beautiful beaches of Jersey filming our spectacular coastline, as the sun rises. Who wouldn't rather be there than in a hospital bed?
