Going (gone) viral
Like the rest of the world, the pandemic brought many changes to the way we work, with business as usual here largely put on hold.
The Allan Lab team were able to put their skills to good use and formed part of Jersey’s response to the coronavirus pandemic: in developing tools for data operations and Nightingale planning. Dr Max Birge, was instrumental in the making of Jersey’s COVID ALERT App, developed to help break the chain of transmission of coronavirus, and facilitate efficient contact tracing.
The app was a collaborative effort which brought together all aspects of the States of Jersey from policy makers, public health and the Scientific and Technical Advisory Cell (STAC). The Jersey COVID ALERT App was developed alongside efforts internationally, and involved working with NHS X, Google, Apple and universities.
