Dr Andrew Mitchell is Consultant Cardiologist in Jersey and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Oxford University Hospitals. He is a Digital Health ambassador and has been actively engaged in clinical research for the last 20 years.

Dr Austin Gibbs
Lab Director
“Keep the patient at the center of everything you do”
Dr Austin Gibbs graduated from UCL with degrees in medicine and psychology and has worked in Emergency Medicine and on healthcare projects in a variety of settings, including South Sudan and Mozambique. Away from Medicine, he's spent time studying Law, living off the land in France, renovating a 120yr old house, before joining the Cardiology department in Jersey and forming The Allan Lab to develop a way of translating technology into meaningful and deliverable clinical practice.
Unashamed nerd, passionate that advances in health technology can deliver better patient outcomes and experiences yielding economic benefits.

Dr Katie Hill
Digital Innovation Fellow
Dr Katie Hill studied Graduate Medicine at the University of Leicester from 2014 to 2018. She has worked at Jersey General Hospital for the past three years and has just completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. In a previous life she worked as a Speech and Language Therapist in Jersey, Guernsey and Australia.
She is a yoga enthusiast, occasional runner and proud mum to one baby and one cat.

Dr Chris Brown
Digital Innovation Fellow
Dr Chris Brown is a University of Edinburgh graduate with degrees in medicine and pharmacology. He continues clinical work spanning acute medicine and cardiology, alongside translational health research in the lab.
Chris is funded by the Jersey Community Foundation Science Fund to evaluate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in clinical settings. Currently, his research focuses on AI-assisted x-ray interpretation in the Emergency Department. With this work, he will complete his Master's in Health Data Science at University College London.
Chris has presented our work internationally and was recently recognised as one of FEDIP’s ‘35 under 35’ future digital health leaders.

Dr Ed Richardson
Staff Grade Doctor in Cardiology
Dr Ed Richardson BMBS BMedSc studied Medicine at Southampton University and has worked in Jersey since 2016. Ed has a broad medical skill base, with experience in a variety of specialities, including Acute/General Medicine, Renal Medicine, and Cardiology.
Ed has a specialist interest in digital health and has several publications on this topic. He has been working with the Allan Lab since its creation and has always been passionate about technology, with it being one of his main hobbies and interests since childhood.
Ed enjoys the problem-solving and logical nature of computers and the digital world. He believes technology has so much more to offer medicine and gets great satisfaction from supporting its successful development in any way he can.
His other hobbies include lifting weights, sea swimming, cocktail making and DIY.

Dr Max Birge
Allan Lab Alumnus
Dr Max Birge trained in medicine at Barts & The London before spending three years practicing in Jersey. His primary clinical interest is in Emergency Medicine. Whilst working at the Allan Lab, he was involved in early research projects studying the physiology of VR and its practical application in Cardiology. During the pandemic, he became a product owner for multiple public-facing digital health projects, including Bluetooth based contact tracing app and COVID passport technology.
